May 25, 2018, St. Petersburg – JSC Rusatom Automated Control Systems (JSC RASU, the I&C integrator of Rosatom State Corporation) and Framatome, France, signed the Memorandum of Understanding, formalizing the intention of the parties to change the format of cooperation, broaden the scope of the joint activities in instrumentation and control systems, and create more opportunities for win-win business.

The document was signed within the framework of the Russian-French “nuclear dialogue” on the second day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. On behalf of the Russian party the MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of JSC RASU Mr. Andrey Butko. The French party was represented by Mr. Frédéric Lelièvre, Framatome, Senior Executive Vice President Sales / Regions & I&C.

The MoU formalizes the framework agreement of JSC RASU and Framatome to take part in the global VVER and ERP NPP construction projects, join the efforts in NPP maintenance and modernization, personnel training, nuclear infrastructure development, as well as provide assistance in certification of the Russian equipment for compliance with the European and international regulations.

According to the agreed plan, the parties will soon consider the possibility to integrate Framatome’s I&C systems into the international new build projects of Rosatom, with some of the systems and components localized at the facilities of Rosatom companies.

“Success comes when strong players come together and provide the best solutions to their customers. The experience of our work with Framatome proves that this is a feasible approach. We have already established the permanent working groups and reached the agreement to develop hi-tech solutions for VVER and ERP reactors together. We also cooperate in plant personnel training and the development of digital training platforms. Everything we do together makes our partnership stronger and extends the boundaries for the sake of our business”, Mr. Andrey Butko said.

According to Mr. Frédéric Lelièvre, the Memorandum is a good step forward for both parties. “We can see the synergy effect from the cooperation of Framatome and RASU. We have a long-term experience in I&C systems commissioning at the Russian nuclear power plants, and we believe that the existing conditions for implementation of joint projects will be in high demand at the global markets. The cooperation of our companies makes a strategic advantage and enables us to comply with the strict requirements and challenging tasks coming from our clients”.
