On February 16, 2017, RAOS Project Oy – a project company established for construction of the Hanhikivi-1 NPP, took part in the Big Project Day, which is traditionally held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the city of Oulu, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland.
The event was participated by the Fennovoima Oy CEO Toni Hemminki, communication manager of RAOS Project Oy Outi Pelkonen and representative of Concern Titan-2 Mikhail Tchicherin.
The communication manager of RAOS Project Oy Outi Pelkonen told about strengthening of the company's role as a general contractor and laid emphasis on importance of interaction between all participants of the Hanhikivi-1NPP project. She also said that the project works were currently being performed by 173 men, of whom 12 men were working in Pyhäjoki and 25 in Helsinki. Pelkonen said that it was planned to increase the project staff to 250 men by the end of 2017, while the maximum number of employees would be achieved by 2020 (354 men), and more than 130 of them would work in Pyhäjoki.
Outi Pelkonen told the participants that these people had already laid 16 km of asphalt and cycling roads in the project area, excavated more than 190 m3 of soil, laid 35 km of electric cable and 16 km of water-supply and sewer pipes.
Jouni Kähkönen, Deputy Chairman of Big Investments Committee of Oulu Chamber of Commerce said: «There are many big investments under work and production here in Oulu region – of course Hanhikivi-1 - project is the largest. Oulu Chamber of Commerce has orginized since 2012 twenty ”Big Investments seminars” to deal information to local companies to help their ability to get networking each other and to get among the supplier chains. Hanhikivi-1 - project has started with great co-operation with Russian companies and our aim is to develop this co-operation still further.
