The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is the development of cooperation between the companies in the field of nuclear energy in regard to the management of radioactive waste (RAW) and spent nuclear fuel (SNF).
The Parties have expressed their interest to cooperate in the field of handling liquid and solid radioactive waste from operating and decommissioned nuclear facilities, which may include sorting, characterization, segmentation, conditioning and safe storage.
The document also expresses interest in joint participation in the creation of an infrastructure for safe storage of SNF from energy and research reactors, decommissioning of nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities (NRHF), as well as projects for water treatment and water purification.
The agreements reached form the basis for expanding the competence of the enterprises of ROSATOM State Corporation in the field of RAW and SNF management.
