Preparations are currently underway for the start of construction. These include soil strengthening measures, arranging for the construction of an impervious barrier, developing a foundation pit for future power units, and building and installing construction facilities and auxiliary facilities. Equipment suppliers have also begun producing equipment.
The parties also discussed questions pertaining to other collaborations between Hungarian companies and ROSATOM subsidiaries.

The Paks II NPP project is being implemented on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement signed by Russia and Hungary on 14 January 2014, as well as three contracts signed on 9 December 2014 on the construction of a new plant. Paks II NPP will be built on a turnkey basis. The guaranteed service lifespan of power units 5 and 6 is 60 years with the possibility of lifetime extension. The project’s general contractor is ROSATOM’s engineering company ASE JSC.
