PJSC ZiO-Podolsk (part of Rosatom's engineering division – JSC Atomenergomash) has completed the manufacture of equipment for the Riverside thermal waste-to-energy plant in the UK. The contract obligations are met more than a month ahead of the contract term.
Under the contract with Hitachi Zosen Inova concluded in 2019 ZiO-Podolsk manufactured eight blocks of steam superheaters of the 3rd and 4th stages. The devices are designed for steam overheating. The total weight of the shipped goods amounted to about 303 tons. The pipes with an increased by 1.5 mm wall thickness were used to manufacture the boiler equipment: they increase equipment reliability and life service.
The steam superheaters will replace similar equipment in the context of modernization process. Units manufactured at ZiO-Podolsk are the first Russian equipment manufactured for a foreign waste heat recovery plant under the Hitachi Zosen Inova project in accordance with European and other international standards.
The Riverside waste-to-energy plant is one of Hitachi Zosen Inova's UK reference projects. The facility was built on a turnkey basis and put into operation in 2010. The average annual volume of municipal waste conversion is about 585 thousand tons.
