The consultations between the Russian delegation headed by Director General of ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev and Director General of IAEA Rafael Grossi took place in St. Petersburg on October 11.

The Russian delegation was represented by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to international organisations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov; Head of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision of Russia “Rostekhnadzor” Alexander Trembitsky; Chief of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Igor Kirillov, and Head of the General Directorate of Site Protection of the Federal National Guard Troops Service Vladimir Mashevsky.


In preparation for the meeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Rafael Grossi a number of issues have been considered on cooperation between the Russian Federation and the IAEA in providing security of Zaporozhye NPP, including those having arisen in the context of new legal realities at the South-East of Ukraine. In particular, the sides have discussed possible approaches to implementing the initiative on the Nuclear safety and physical protection zone around Zaporozhye NPP.
There is clear understanding on the necessity of discussing further these issues.
